Montenotte Hotel Cork

The Montenotte was everything and more, from the second we walked in the door to meeting the lovely and charismatic David who checked us in and wished me a Happy Birthday . The decor is beautiful throughout and makes you feel so comfortable and gives an air of relaxation.

Our room was really nice and so comfy and there was a slate platter on the table with birthday wishes and strawberries and chocolate mousse with a note from the manager wishing me a happy birthday. I was feeling totally spoilt.

Our room had a view out to the city. We freshened up and headed into the city strolling around the Old English Market and grabbing lunch from O’Flynns. Gourmet sausages in a bun with fried onions and relish, it was mouthwateringly good and of course I was treated to a mini cake of my very own from Hassets Bakery. The birthday gal, that’s me chose the Lemon Meringue and it was heavenly. We dined outdoors for that alfresco vibe.

Stuffed to the brim and happy out we meandered through the back streets and came upon the Triskel Arts Centre where I spied Lean on Pete being advertised. A film which I had heard great things about and really wanted to see. Brochure into the handbag and on we went up through Shandon and on past the Butter Exchange  and Shandon Bells.

Cork city has so much to offer and loads to see and do, we really love it but me being a Spa lover and as it was my birthday sure I had to have me some Spa time in the Bellevue. I opted for a massage and loved every single second. The ladies changing area was really pretty and the decor throughout the spa was beautiful. The relaxation area was my favourite, just a pity it wasn’t facing the city view. Personally I felt it was a tad on the expensive side and a few deals or mini treatments would be a good option for those who don’t want to spend €70 plus on a treatment.

Next stop after refreshments and a glass or 3 of prosecco was the pool area where the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi got taken full advantage of, again another lovely area and a great sized pool and nicely laid out. The only criticism I have is it could have been more in keeping with the decor of the hotel.

Our evening meal was included in the price of our stay. Our starters were delicious and for mains we both ordered steak. We were a little peeved that both our steaks weren’t medium to well as ordered but were instead well done , the quality of the meat was excellent so we just ate it but brought it to the attention of the restaurant manager as feed back for the Chef. She was apologetic and said we could return them to get what we ordered but we were happy to just bring it to there attention. To compensate we received a free drink each which was nice. We wandered out to the balcony area after dinner to sit and admire the lights of the city and just chill snuggled up together under warm blankets.

Woke up after an amazing nights sleep in a super comfy bed and had the most scrumptious breakfast followed by a walk in the garden before we checked out. We both wanted to stay another night which is a sign of a good hotel and how much we both enjoyed it. A return visit is most certainly on the cards.
