A cafe with oodles of old world charm practically on my doorstep. I had heard great things about this place but wanted to see for myself. On arrival I first noticed the quaint little windows with half nets and pretty little window box’s filled with flowers. It instantly warmed the cockles of my heart & made me feel at home. The name Thatch and Thyme is so apt as you can see from the image above the thatch on this old building is one of craftsmanship & pure beauty bringing you a vision of the typically quintessential Irish Cottage & I couldn’t wait to share it with you all.
Originally this building was thought to belong to a phase of the re-development of Killdorrey village by the 2nd Earl of Kingston in 1777.
Quick history lesson over & now let’s get down to the important stuff the “GRUB”, I know priorities right.
Mouthwateringly good with a taste of more off it. It’s warm ham and brie with tomato chutney, chips and a tossed house salad. Washed down with a pot of tea & yes I had to try out dessert for the purposes of this post 😜being as dedicated as I am.
I opted for the Warm Chocolate & Hazelnut brownie with cream and butterscotch sauce.
The interior is warm bright colourful & filled with smells of homebaking & coffee. The staff are friendly and attentive and there’s service with a smile. There’s also a fab outside seating area within a walled garden so sheltered & ideal for sunnier days.
Until to my next foodie adventure X
